In today’s blog post I’m going to be answering the questions above, since I have switched over to this form of storytelling over the more traditional photos I would take before.

I offer two collections for portraiture. One is a more classic photoshoot (but still documentary styled) and then theres my documentary collection which is different.

My “classic” collection is the my most common service for families. It’s like traditional family portraiture with a twist to be more candid and overall have more fun. In the classic session I take a documentary approach. Basically what I mean when I say documentary style is:

  • promts > posing
  • setting up a scene to get fun & more candid looking shots.
  • allowing the kids to run around and have fun – even giving them prompts to race sometimes
  • no more forcing smiles

Basically I’m documenting a story verses forcing a scene.

For The Documentary collection that I offer; I act as a fly on the wall and photograph the little moments and sweet details that are in our every day lives to tell a story. For this collection I charge hourly and there is minimal prompting on my part, but I will still throw out an idea here and there. Some great times to hire me for this collection would be:

  • A beach day
  • Going for a hike
  • A day on the lake
  • Baking cookies in your home
  • skiing
  • etc.

I understand the verbiage may be a little confusing, and this term is thrown out left and right on instagram without really giving any detail as to what it means for that photographer. So, hopefully this lil blog post helps <3

  1. May I just say what a comfort to discover someone who really knows what they are discussing on the internet.

You actually realize how to bring an issue to light and make it important.
More people must check this out and understand this side of your
story. I was surprised you aren’t more popular since
    you surely possess the gift.
